Follycon 2018 – The First Day

What a wonderful way to kick off my foray back into blogging….sharing my time at this year’s Eastercon; this year known as Follycon. Eastercon is a science fiction and fantasy convention held every Easter weekend here in the UK. Last year I went to my very first Eastercon in Birmingham, and this year it is…… Continue reading Follycon 2018 – The First Day

I’m basically blonde now, I need to get my hands on some pink crazy colour.
Yes Bonnie. RIGHT THERE IS JUST PERFECT. That’s Yes Bonnie. RIGHT THERE IS JUST PERFECT. That’s gonna help me work A LOT.
I got the urge to create tonight and this came out I got the urge to create tonight and this came out. It’s not original in the slightest and it is imperfect in many ways, but I’m happy I saw it through from start to end. I feel a good sense of accomplishment.

The fact I didn’t put my pliers down til midnight was probably a mistake I’ll live to regret tomorrow!

Happy 2021 everyone!

(I’m trying to be positive despite the announcement of Boris addressing us all at 8pm...)

Every journey begins with a step. This first step Every journey begins with a step. This first step back into art was a tutorial from the @artfulbox magazine (that came with the Dec-Feb ‘ink’ box) on inking flowers. I’ve never drawn a cosmos before let alone inked one, and tonight I’ve done both.

I used a waterproof fine liner to ink the drawing in black, and the colour is acrylic ink (the 3 bottles in the picture). I’ve never painted with ink before and it was surprised at just how far one drop of it went! (I dropped far too much red onto my plate...I was much more conservative with the green and yellow when I used them!)

In hindsight I was too heavy with the colour on the petals; the balance would be better if I left some lighter areas. I’m still pleased with it as my first dip back in the water. I am highly out of practice and have little to no consistency with actually doing anything arty, so I’m trying to be patient and kind to myself and not demand perfection immediately (like I do with most things and then proceed to give up!)

I’m pretty excited to use these again. Hopefully I can motivate myself to do so over the next couple of days since I don’t have work again til Monday.
It’s that time again! It’s all selfies and a It’s that time again! It’s all selfies and a couple of OOTD’s bar one post (the purple paw print). Christmas was not the same without you Misty, gone but not forgotten 🐈‍⬛ 💖

Last Christmas, Michael had to catch her mid air as to tried to leap at the turkey on the table! It was a hilarious and unforgettable moment. I could never imagine that this year she wouldn’t be with us. Between November 2019 and September 2020 we lost 3 cats (Sweep, Cookie and then Misty) and it really devastated our household. Out of tragedy and grief we adopted Bonnie in February and then Barrington just this month. No one cat can replace another as they are all unique souls, but giving a home to new kitties in need helps to fill the void left behind.

I didn’t expect to say so much when posting this! Seeing Misty’s little paw included prompted a bit of reflection I suppose.

2020 has been a strange, stressful year. In the latter half of the year I haven’t posted as much as I would usually, my mental health needed me to step away from my socials. I even deleted Facebook from my phone and iPad for a couple of months. Doing this let’s me see that there were positives, times I smiled and found the good, even in the bad times and felt like I could share them.

Roll on 2021?
I’ve spent most of today feeling like crap (I th I’ve spent most of today feeling like crap (I think I have a head cold, hurrah!), so here is a picture I took late on Christmas Day of Bonnie and me snuggled up.

I could go on about how Christmas has been weird this year, but I won’t bore you (much). I like to think I’ve made the best of the circumstances...today aside, which has been largely been spent in bed! But I am glad that it’s nearly done. I find Christmas hard and draining at the best of times. This year has been all the more difficult thanks to the pandemic. 2021 has to be better, right?

I’m going to go play Animal Crossing now 😉
I think I put my best selfie game out there today, I think I put my best selfie game out there today, especially for Christmas 💖
