Blog blog blog.

I really want to blog more. It’s been a goal of mine since March and I just…haven’t. I can’t say with any level of certainty or accuracy as to why I haven’t exactly; I just haven’t. This is an attempt to change all that. I have decided that although my blog will be a general…… Continue reading Blog blog blog.

Just an appreciation of a delicious meal cooked ea Just an appreciation of a delicious meal cooked earlier this week. A pepper and kidney bean stew with coconut milk and spinach. It was so good and looked so bright and colourful in the bowl!
Today has been a sad day. My grandad got in touch Today has been a sad day. My grandad got in touch to say that Sooty (pictured) had crossed the rainbow bridge. And then Paul and Mary got in touch to say Leia, one of their rats, had also crossed over.

I liked little Leia, but had only met her a few times. I am utterly cut up for Paul though, as he is besides himself with grief and I can’t go and be with him because of the pandemic restrictions.

Sooty...well, he was of my Sweep’s kittens who was given to my Mam’s along with Sooty’s brother and then in recent years, moved to being with my grandad and brought him a lot of joy. I loved Sooty like one of my own cats.

Speaking to my grandad and hearing him broken over losing him was hard. I just wish I could go and see him as well :-(

Pets are family. Losing 3 of our own over the last year or so has been heartbreaking, and it pains me that two people dear to me are having to experience that today. I wish I could make it not so for them.

Run happy and free over the rainbow bridge, Sooty and Leia 🌈💔
Hump day aesthetics. Wearing vest/tank tops, wish Hump day aesthetics. Wearing vest/tank tops, wishing it was summer already. Give it an hour when the heating clicks off and I’ll be reaching for a jumper!

I’m basically blonde now, I need to get my hands on some pink crazy colour.
Yes Bonnie. RIGHT THERE IS JUST PERFECT. That’s Yes Bonnie. RIGHT THERE IS JUST PERFECT. That’s gonna help me work A LOT.
I got the urge to create tonight and this came out I got the urge to create tonight and this came out. It’s not original in the slightest and it is imperfect in many ways, but I’m happy I saw it through from start to end. I feel a good sense of accomplishment.

The fact I didn’t put my pliers down til midnight was probably a mistake I’ll live to regret tomorrow!

Happy 2021 everyone!

(I’m trying to be positive despite the announcement of Boris addressing us all at 8pm...)

Every journey begins with a step. This first step Every journey begins with a step. This first step back into art was a tutorial from the @artfulbox magazine (that came with the Dec-Feb ‘ink’ box) on inking flowers. I’ve never drawn a cosmos before let alone inked one, and tonight I’ve done both.

I used a waterproof fine liner to ink the drawing in black, and the colour is acrylic ink (the 3 bottles in the picture). I’ve never painted with ink before and it was surprised at just how far one drop of it went! (I dropped far too much red onto my plate...I was much more conservative with the green and yellow when I used them!)

In hindsight I was too heavy with the colour on the petals; the balance would be better if I left some lighter areas. I’m still pleased with it as my first dip back in the water. I am highly out of practice and have little to no consistency with actually doing anything arty, so I’m trying to be patient and kind to myself and not demand perfection immediately (like I do with most things and then proceed to give up!)

I’m pretty excited to use these again. Hopefully I can motivate myself to do so over the next couple of days since I don’t have work again til Monday.
